Justus' reflection from Jan. 8

From Justus

The first day began with a delicious breakfast including fresh and local fruits. Because it was our first day with Francis, our liaison from Vanuatu and his son, Marama, we started to get to know him better and talked about various things. After breakfast, we went down to the beach to go snorkeling and saw beautiful corals and, of course, a variety of different fish. Now it was time to get our lunch, which was made up of chicken, sausages and vegetables. As it became afternoon we tried Stand-Up Paddling and kayaking in the sea, which became very difficult in the waves. Additionally, one of the resort workers opened a boat for us to jump off. After that it was time to get our staff together and to hop on Nolan’s boat, a guy who stayed with us the whole night and helped us finding turtles, who steered us to another beach where we located our camp. From now we acted in three groups. One group was located at the camp and the two others walked around to look for turtles. After we had dinner we began with the work, but couldn’t found any turtles, so we went to sleep.  We packed up and left for Tranquility Resort at 5:30 am in the morning by boat.
